Plantar wart on children

My 8 year old daughter gets a planar wart

My plantar wart has been gone for over a year and since that time I've begun to check each of my kids feet every few months.  Well it must have began growing right after my last check because this time I check her foot and she's got a good size plantar wart.  I was actually a little surprised at first that she didn't notice or say anything sooner.  But then again, I imagine most 8 year old kids don't spend much time surveying the bottoms of their feet and she told me that it didn't hurt.  I wasn't about to put her through the pain of freezing it especially after my experience first hand that showed me freezing didn't work well for plantar warts.

To see what I went thru with pictures click here.  I wasted time and money on several visits to the Dr. for freezing treatments that ultimately did nothing.  I finally was referred to a podiatrist who successfully removed my plantar wart with Cantharidin.

Podiatrist office
I schedule an appointment with the podiatrist I used for myself and he does the same procedure for my daughters planter wart.  He first uses a razor blade tool and trims down the wart on her foot.  Just like when he did this on mine, it doesn't hurt for my daughter.

Here is a picture after he trimmed it down:

Next he applies a small amount of Cantharidin (blister beetle juice) and then puts a tight band aid over it.  Gives us the same instructions as before - leave the band aid and Cantharidin on for 8 hours if possible but no less then 4.  The closer to 8 hours the better as it will blister more the longer it is left on.  We made it close to 8 hours before removing the band aid and washing her foot.

Plantar Wart follow up visit - 1 week later Hers has done very well.  It blistered up good and she had some pain the first 3 days and now we are back for the follow up visit.  The podiatrist uses the razor tool again and cleans it all up by cutting away the leftover blistered skin.  He says it's all gone and no need to come back unless another one shows up.

Here is the picture after only 1 week:

I will post a 1 month follow up picture next.

I hope this helps you.  If you have a plantar wart - my recommendation is to see a Podiatrist and have them use Cantharidin.  Only 1 week and my daughter's plantar wart was gone!  1 week is an excellent time frame.

How to remove a plantar wart in the shortest time = Cantharadin.
